I have always been in-love and obsessed with blogging. Since I was in my teenage years, I started browsing through lifestyle blogs, travel blogs, style blogs and personal blogs. I was fascinated and SO interested in blogging, creating a website, taking photos from my blog, etc. Granted, I really had no experience and didn’t have much of a clue as to what I was doing. The good days of Xanga and MySpace made me love blogging even more! I am sure I probably have three or four random and abandoned blogs floating around on the Internet. But thank goodness, I stuck with this little baby of mine for so long!
I never knew there was an entire community of bloggers and other secret things about blogging until I started dedicating more time to this little baby. I started spending money and investing in my blog and really trying to see it grow! It’s such a great feeling having people email you or comment on your posts telling you that you have inspired them in some way! This is why I love blogging! I’m also so excited to announce that I’ve been awarded the Liebster Award by another fellow travel blogger! (: Hooray!
Now, what is the Liebster Award? The Liebster Award is given to beginning bloggers by other bloggers to promote community in the blogging world. You’re first nominated by a fellow blogger and then you pay it forward and nominate 5-11 bloggers of your choice. The blogger that nominates you creates a list of 10 questions that you must answer, so readers can get to know you better! I didn’t nominate 5-11 bloggers, but instead decided to choose three female bloggers that I absolutely love and would LOVE to actually meet in real life! Check them out (:
Thank you to Fern from The Salty Fern for nominating me and my blog! (:
The Salty Fern is a travel blog dedicated to sharing all of the truths about traveling. Fern is originally from a small town in the North of England but now finds her home in Mexico. She’s an expat who moved abroad after finishing her studies in Zoology and besides getting a 9-5 job like everyone else told her to, she bought a one way ticket to Mexico and has been living abroad ever since! Her travel blog is filled with lots of tips and tricks about traveling around Mexico and Central/South America. She’s also got some great videos about her adventures! Take a look at her blog and give her a hello! (:
My 10 Questions To Be Answered
- You’ve just won $1,000,000, what’s the first thing you do?
Oh goodness, this is a hard question! The smart thing to do would be to invest, I suppose… but not until I splurge a little and treat my family to a nice vacation somewhere that we could all go and enjoy, relax, and spend some quality time together. After that I’d probably donate some of it and then save/invest the rest! - Who is the most inspiring traveller in your life?
The most inspiring traveler in my life would have to be my family. Before I even knew about traveling and REALLY traveling and not only vacationing, my parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents associated travel with a different type of meaning. To them, traveling was a means to escape from their bad situation in their home country and to come to the United States to create a better life for themselves and their future families. Without their bravery to travel and to travel to a different country where they knew nothing, I wouldn’t be in the position I am today to be able to travel the way I do. They’re truly inspiring and their story is filled with bravery. - What’s your favourite doughnut flavour?
Wow, this is a really tough one. I really love the regular Krispy Kreme glazed donuts, or the chocolate glazed donut, and I’ve tried a lot of interesting donut flavors. I can’t pick a favorite! - If you could travel back in time, what period would you visit?
If I could travel back in time, I’d like to visit the 1960’s/1970’s period in the United States. Those two decades were filled with a lot of activist participation and also just deemed the “hippie” years. I’d love to go back and see what actually took place and how the protests were. Not to mention, what the style was like! - What’s the first place on your travel bucket list?
The first place on my travel bucket list is probably Budapest. I’ve been wanting to travel there for so long and I’ve only heard amazing things about the area. Eventually I will make it there! - What was the first country you visited?
Is it bad to say that I’m not really sure what the first country that I visited was? I think the first country I ever visited was Vietnam with my family, when I was in the first grade. Or, it was Jamaica. I can’t remember which one happened first. - How old were you when you first flew on an airoplane?
I think I was probably six years old, or younger! My parents took us to Sea World in Florida, and that’s about a three/four hour flight from my hometown. - Do you prefer to travel solo, in a group or a couple, and why?
I definitely prefer to travel solo or in a pair. I love traveling with my boyfriend because it’s so easy and we really have the same traveling style. I also love traveling with my other best friend who shares the same travel style. Other then that, I find it really difficult to travel in a group, unless it is my family. Solo travel is always easy and quite enjoyable, especially because I usually prefer to be by myself. - Where do you see your blog in 1 year?
I’m not sure where my blog will be in one year, but I am hoping to put a lot more work into building it and continuing to create content that I am proud of. I’m hoping that it does pick up a little bit more and that I’m able to do more collaboration pieces with other people. I’d also like to get paid to blog (hah! don’t we all?), but we’ll see how that goes! - What’s your favourite social media platform, why?
My favorite social media platfrom would probably have to be Instagram. Although my friends call me the social media queen, I actually don’t like social media too much. Instagram is a great way to scroll through pretty pictures and follow people who inspire you and challenge you. It’s also such an easy platform to connect with other people. A quick second is probably Snapchat. I used to hate Snapchat and was very confused as to why people would have it, but now I’m loving it and loving all of the fun filters I get to use! If you’re not following me on Snapchat, add me to see what living abroad in Spain is like (@thequirkypapple)!
